As all surge vessels, the «PIEGE A AIR» must avoid all cavitation into the water pipe when the pumps stop, and limit the overpressure relative to the residual waterhammering, to an acceptable value. When the pumps stop, during depression phase, the vessel is functionning as an hydropneumatic one up to the complete emptying, Then the air valve open, put the discharge at the atmospheric pressure, allowing air to penetrate and refill the tank. During the overpressure phase, when the water column comes back to pumps direction, the excess of air is expulsed by the air valve staiying opened, then closing of the air-valve when water arrives, and compression of air contained in the surge vessel. |

As all surge vessels, it must be connected on the exhaust pipe after the pumps, generally in line with the main waste water pipe to allow a well circulation of waste water. If the civil engineering imposes, the surge tank can be shunt connected. Then, It will be delivered with a bended pipe. |

The surge vessel «PIEGE A AIR» do not require any particular precaution. As the vessel is connected on the exhaust pipe, only start the pumps and act on the watergate opening, to obtain a progressive filling of the vessel, and also facilitate the elimination of air cavities in the high points of the pipe. The tank will fill up to reach the dynamic pressure. The maintenance of this type of surge vessel is low. The air vessel and the kit are internaly and externaly protected against corrosion. A simple periodic visit will permit to survey the surface aspect of the tank - The air-valve has to be maintained following the manufacturer's request. |

The capacity calculation for a «PIEGE A AIR» is done with specific software. It is very important to calculate this vessel capacity with high precision, like the caracteristics of the air-valve. A too small vessel will not limit the overpressure, and a too large one will never be completely empty, and what will prevent the well functioning of the air valve, it would become rapidly inefficient. One air valve badly dimentionned will perturb the well functioning of the whole |
